The Bike: Part I

It all started with a frame, co-ordinated across 3 continents, i guess i should have realised when my friend was able to buy it off e-bay that this bike would be built at whatever cost. So I had got my frame a Silver 2006 Specialized Rockhopper. Next I had to get the wheels, after weeks of research i finally decided to go with custom built wheels. Hope XC front and rear hubs, that was easy, the rims were a nightmare, too many choices, finally decided to go with 2 different rims, Mavic XC 717 for from with 32 spokes and Mavic XM719 for the rear with 36 spokes. XC717 is lighter, meant for cross country riding where everybody is anal about weight, since I'd have front shocks this was a good option as i wouldn't want it heavier than it should be considering the added weight of the front shock as well. For the rear wheel decided to go with the XM719, which is a heavier and stronger, I'm kinda heavy and a nice strong wheel would be good. Next had to sort out the front shock, having ridden non shock bikes all this time, i wanted to start off with something simple, so decided to go with a Marzocchi MX pro ETA, it has a decent amount of travel and within spec for the frame.

Mutant Peanuts

Everybody likes jumbo peanuts, but has it ever occurred to you that they could be Genetically Modified. Ten years ago they didn't have jumbo peanuts, jumbo prawns have been around forever but not jumbo peanuts, nobody really knows what is being dumped here cause nobody gives a damn. Therefore unless there is a sweat shop in some random country where there are people with rulers selecting the large peanuts off a huge pile of peanuts which are worthy of being called "Jumbo", we are eating GM peanuts.
